Drabek wanted the militia he had joined three years ago, the Geauga County Home Guard, to train in twenty acres of land in his backyard near Swine Creek. But protests from neighbors, concerned over the safety of the militia firing high-powered assault rifles near homes and children, stopped the group from holding their "live fire" exercise. And, in a twist, it caused Drabek and others to rethink the unorganized militia's real role. ADRIAN, [MI]—Nine members of a Michigan Militia group called "the Hutaree" are arrested in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana for allegedly plotting to kill law enforcement officers. Members are accused of stockpiling weapons and conducting paramilitary training in anticipation of waging war with the "anti-Christ" and the U.S. government.
OGDEN, [UT]—A suspicious substance discovered at an Internal Revenue Service building in Farr West Monday morning severely disrupted operations, but turned out to be non-hazardous. That's what the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said after a hazmat response that lasted several hours. The FBI released very little information and no details on the substance. Two IRS employees left the building on stretchers. The incident happened less than two weeks after a man furious at the IRS crashed his small plane into an office building housing Federal tax employees in Austin, Texas. View More>>
