TUCSON, [AZ]—The trial of Shawna Forde, who prosecutors say led the raid of the Flores home to steal drug money, began last week and outlets like the Arizona Daily Star and The Daily Beast had reporters on the ground. But much of the mainstream media ignored it altogether, including both CNN and the New York Times. Previously, both the Times and CNN had not covered the case in writing since the killings in 2009. HEMET, [CA]—A prosecutor described four accused white supremacists as a "pack of wolves" as they jumped a Hispanic man in a Hemet mobile home park in 2008. But at least one of the men was not a member of the white supremacist gang, a defense attorney said Monday as their attempted murder trial began in a French Valley courtroom. Three juries will be hearing the trial of Justin Tyme Hayes, 23, Derek Shane O'Brien, 24, Scott James Siewert, 25, and Mark Anthony Wisler, 19. Each man is charged with attempted murder and assault to benefit a gang. View More>>

TUCSON, [AZ]—The near-fatal shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is an instance of Far Right adventurism and intolerance to centrist policies in the United States. Jared Loughner's (the shooter) litany is familiar fodder from the Far Right as well as the intellectual Near Right. The point that the government is trying to control “English grammar structure” sounded familiar to David Lynn Miller, a conspiracy theorist with Far Right proclivities, who told The New York Times that Loughner had “probably been on my website, which has been up for about 11 years. NEW PORT RICHEY, [FL]—Kraig Constantino, accused of beating and stabbing a man he suspected of trying to hit on his girlfriend, took a plea deal Thursday that let him walk away convicted but free. He got time served. Constantino is a felon with a long history of arrests. But he had this going for him: He testified in December in the retrial of neo-Nazi John Ditullio, who was accused of stabbing a woman and killing a teenager in a hate-fueled rampage in 2006. Ditullio first went to trial in 2009, but the jury deadlocked and a mistrial was declared. View More>>

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, [CN]—A fugitive white supremacist facing a Canada-wide arrest warrant has called on his supporters to launch violent attacks on Jews and U.S. government installations. TUCSON, [AZ]—The lone survivor of the May 30, 2009, deadly home invasion in Arivaca told a Pima County Superior Court jury Tuesday that she didn’t fear the worse for her husband and daughter because “I knew they were dead.” Gina Gonzalez, who returns to the stand Wednesday, also revealed that she believed the female invader was wearing a wig the first time she came into the home and was not wearing it the second time. The testimony came on the first day of trial for Minutemen American Defense leader Shawna Forde, who is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Raul “Junior” Flores and his daughter, Brisenia, 10. LOS ANGELES, [CA]—It's no secret that animal rights activists aren't too fond of the medical experiments being done at UCLA. Faculty members and researchers have been on the scary end of bombs, letters filled with razor blades, vandalism and verbal threats. In response, UCLA admits that it has taken steps to keep its researchers safe, including monitoring protests and protesters. But a small handful of animal rights activists say the school has gone way too far and are suing the UCLA police department in federal court, claiming that school officers are harassing and intimidating them and denying them the right to free speech. View More>>
