MEMPHIS, [TN]—Chief Donald Oakes said Dewayne Jones was fired for administrative reasons like not following the rules and showing up for work on time. They also found out Jones had driving charges he never told them about, and he also has pending criminal charges against him. Oakes says all of this has culminated over the last year in a downward spiral leaving Jones behind bars. Dewayne Jones was a West Memphis Police Officer for over three years until he was fired last June. Oakes believes the firing and criminal charges against him caused Jones to become a sovereign citizen. ANDERSON, [SC]—U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan's staff has removed all the posts on his Facebook page from a man who endorsed the notion of hanging President Barack Obama as punishment for treason. The comments referring to the president that a man identified as David Butler posted Wednesday on Duncan's Facebook page were removed Thursday. By Friday morning, the rest of Butler's posts on the Republican congressman's Facebook page had vanished. Butler has expressed support for a group called Oath Keepers. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office also has assigned an investigator to the case. The Secret Service has been contacted about Butler's comments regarding Obama, according to email Friday fro

FT. WORTH, [TX]—A judge sentenced a man to life in prison for knocking out his ex-girlfriend last year. Prosecutors said Ronnie Paul Kappel, 47, had abused women for 20 years and was a habitual offender having been to prison four times on six felony convictions. Prosecutors showed the jury evidence that Kappel was a member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, a white supremacist prison gang, and had subpoenaed two different women who Kappel had assaulted. ATLANTA, [GA]—The FBI says it is investigating "intentional" fires that erupted this week at two Atlanta-area women's clinics, one of which performs abortions. The FBI said the first of the blazes occurred on Sunday morning after someone broke out the front window of a gynecological office and set a fire inside the building. On Wednesday, a second fire broke out at a suburban Atlanta abortion clinic. There were patients inside the clinic when the fire erupted, but they were on a different floor of the building and no one was injured. VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, [CN]—Four Vancouver fur stores have been targeted by the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), an extreme animal rights group willing to resort to illegal activities like vandalism and arson. On Monday buckets of red paint were splashed on windows and signs at Capilano Furs, Speiser Furs, Snowflake Canada and Pappas Furs “to remind the public of the innocent blood spilled every day in the vicious fur trade,” said an anonymous press release signed by ALF. WICHITA, [KS]—A federal law enforcement group is offering a $5,000 reward for information about an arson that severely damaged a Wichita mosque. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering the reward as it helps investigate the Oct. 31 fire at the Islamic Association of Mid-Kansas mosque. Investigators said last week that the fire was intentionally set. No one was injured but the fire caused an estimated $130,000 in damage. KAKE-TV reports that Wichita fire Capt. Stuart Bevis said the fire investigation has been slowed while investigators wait for technical analysis being performed in Maryland. Wichita police and the FBI are also working on with the case. PHOENIX, [AZ]—A federal judge in Arizona has handed a 40-year jail sentence to a white supremacist for a 2004 bombing that seriously injured a black diversity director. Dennis Mahon, 61, was found guilty in February of conspiring to use explosives to damage buildings and property and distribution of information related to explosives. Dan Logan, who was diversity director of Scottsdale, Ariz., in 2004, was badly injured when a pipe bomb delivered to his office exploded in his hands. COSTA MESA, [CA]—A self-described "skinhead" was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a man multiple times. Andrew James Jurjaks, 29, was arrested Tuesday for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to Costa Mesa police. Police found the 36-year-old victim bleeding from wounds on his left arm and back about 4:20 a.m. Tuesday at a Circle K market. The victim was stabbed multiple times with a folding knife, according to police. He and Jurjaks allegedly got into a fight at the Regency Inn where Jurjaks had rented a room. ROANOKE, [VA]—Self-proclaimed neo-Nazi William A. White is missing, and U.S. Marshals are actively searching for him. Federal investigators tell WSLS-TV that White recently missed a scheduled check-in as part of his probation and that marshals do not know his location. He was not wearing a tracking device, the TV station reported. Investigators said White recently moved from Lexington to an apartment in Lynchburg. HARMONY, [NC]—Members of a controversial white rights group are planning to gather in a Iredell County, according to flyers popping up around the region. The flyers say the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan will gather for a "whites only" rally on Saturday in the town of Harmony. The event is being billed as a free rally and cross lighting slated as a "white unity event." The national office for the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan is in Eden, North Carolina. The rally appears to be slated to be held on private property. While published flyers mention the town of Harmony, town leaders are going on the offensive to distance themselves from the event.
