HONOLULU, [HI]—The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking the public’s help in providing information leading to the location and arrest of fugitive husband and wife, John and Julieanne Dimitrion. In April 2009, the Dimitrions pled guilty to operating a fraud scheme in which they used their companies to convince distressed homeowners to relinquish their homes with the promise of improving the victims’ financial position. They promised to invest the proceeds of the home sales, but instead the Dimitrions used the victims’ money to fund their own lavish lifestyles. Multiple Oahu families lost their homes as a result of the Dimitrions' crimes. The FBI suspects that they have

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, [CN]—There is a "growing radicalized environmentalist faction" in Canada that is opposed to the country's energy sector policies, warns a newly declassified intelligence report. The RCMP criminal intelligence assessment, focusing on Canadian waters, cites potential dangers from environmental activists to offshore oil platforms and hazardous marine shipments, representing perhaps the starkest assessment of such threats by the Canadian security community to date. The report drew a sharp dismissal from Greenpeace which suggested it could simply be an effort by security authorities to tell the Canadian government what it wants to hear. A group called the Committee Against Political Repression claims that several local activists were targeted and anarchist materials seized. The group claims that dozens of activist groups across the Northwest have joined together to oppose the recent raids, including activists with various Occupy movements. The FBI has refused to comment on any of the claims of what was seized during the raids. An FBI spokeswoman, however, has said the raids were part of an "ongoing violent crime" investigation. View More>>

WEATHERSFIELD, [CT]—The sales pitch offered people who were drowning in debt a miraculous life jacket. It went like this: There's a U.S. Treasury fund that can be used by individuals to stop foreclosure actions, pay off debts and end their money worries. But the Treasury Department keeps the fund a secret. There's a special way to get the loot, but to find out how will involve a fee. The fund, of course, doesn't exist, a life preserver filled with rocks. People who paid thousands of dollars for help ended up in worse financial shape than before. The alleged scam, based on a well-worn fabrication, was revealed last month when federal tax agents arrested Deowraj Buddhu, 69, and his daughter,
