ALLENTOWN, [PA]—A Lehigh County judge granted a stay to the mandatory life sentence of Bryan and David Freeman—the neo-Nazi brothers who massacred their family in 1995 in Salisbury Township—pending a decision by the state Legislature on how to sentence juvenile killers. The Freemans were sentenced to life for beating and stabbing their parents and younger brother, but the U.S. Supreme Court earlier this year ruled mandatory life sentences without parole for juveniles convicted of homicide are unconstitutional. Bryan Freeman was 17 at the time of the killings and his brother was 16. The Freemans were known as skinheads who had shaved heads, wore military clothing and sported neo

The fire was 50 percent involved when firefighters arrived on the scene. Firefighters found flames pouring out of the windows and heavy smoke filled the air. The fire damaged the waiting room and an office area before it was fully extinguished at about 1:45 a.m. FBI and ATF agents are expected to assist in the investigation and may arrive as early as Sunday. Whether politics played a role in the fire is a question investigators will hit hard. If the incident is a federal crime, prosecution and penalties are more

STOKES COUNTY, [NC]—It was a busy Saturday for the Stokes County Militia as they handled parking and security for the Tea Party-sponsored Constitution Day rally at Jomeokee Park in Pinnacle on Sept. 22. But for the SCM, the weekend’s events actually began on Friday night. That’s when they held a gathering on the private property of a militia member — complete with BBQ and fixings, target practice and a pre-rally speech from one of Constitution Day’s keynote speakers, Jan Morgan. The SCM had agreed to work security for her, since her position inevitably comes with its own hazards. So local militia leaders felt it would be a good idea to meet with Morgan the night before the ra

KANSAS CITY, [MO]—A Ku Klux Klan group won a preliminary injunction late Thursday allowing it to proceed with plans to place leaflets on vehicles today in the southeast Missouri city of Cape Girardeau. The American Civil Liberties Union sued Cape Girardeau earlier this month in federal court on behalf of the Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK, challenging the city’s ban on putting leaflets on unoccupied vehicles. The suit claims the ban violates Klan members’ free speech rights under the First Amendment. The Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK had planned to place handbills on vehicles in Cape Girardeau today and other dates that have not been determined. But the
