SUMMIT COUNTY, [UT]—The Summit County Sheriff's Office is stepping up patrols at area mink ranches after a break-in on Friday in which 20 mink were released from a ranch. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the Sheriff's Office said information regarding the location and identity of the mink rancher cannot be released. In the early morning on Friday, Sept. 13, unknown suspects entered the mink farm and released the animals. The suspects destroyed roughly 80 percent of the rancher's pedigree charts as well. Of the 20 mink set loose from the farm, all but five were found by the rancher. Winter is usually when the mink pelt harvesting season takes place, and groups such as the Anima

WHITEFISH, [MT]—Richard Spencer's tidy appearance is about more than his sense of propriety, it's a recruitment tool. Spencer advocates for white separatism and he wants to shake his movement's reputation for brutality and backwardness. Spencer says now, more than ever, it falls to people like him to be engaged and savvy if America is going to combat the growing threat of diversity. In particular, he's irritated by the rise of U.S. minority births, which outnumbered white births for the first time in 2011. Under the auspices of his blandly named National Policy Institute, Spencer is working to create an intellectual class of white separatists. The group rejects the calls for violence, w

NEW YORK CITY, [NY]—The FBI offices in New York and Philadelphia were hopeful Friday that they're a step closer to capturing two, female radicals who've been fugitives since the 1980's. Donna Joan Borup and Elizabeth Anna Duke are believed traveling together, and the Port Authority Police of New York and New Jersey have a particular interest in Borup. Thirty-two years ago this past week, on September 26, 1981, police said Borup and accomplices tossed a caustic substance into the eyes of Port Authority Police Officer, Evan Goodstein, during an anti-apartheid demonstration at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens. The officer was partially blinded in one eye. Borup was arrested

EDMONTON, ALBERTA, [CN]—There isn't a specific manifesto and the group is loosely organized with thousands of followers around the world. Individuals who adhere to the Freeman "sovereign citizen" philosophy generally advocate unobstructed travel and property rights with minimal to no government involvement in their daily lives. People often refuse to pay taxes, mortgages or register their cars, and shun the use of birth certificates, social insurance numbers and other government-issued identification. Followers typically don't recognize the jurisdiction of the courts on matters such as tax evasion, although police officers, lawyers and judges have been sued or named in so-called liens and

SAVANNAH, [GA]—A U.S. Army soldier accused of using his wife's $500,000 life insurance benefits to fund an anti-government militia group will face a court-martial on charges that he killed her and their unborn child. The Army has accused Private Isaac Aguigui, 22, of asphyxiating his pregnant wife, Sergeant Deidre Aguigui, in 2011, when she was stationed on Fort Stewart in southern Georgia. Army prosecutors will not seek the death penalty against Isaac Aguigui, whose military trial is set to begin on January 21st. Aguigui is serving a life-without-parole sentence after pleading guilty in a civilian court in July to the separate murders of a fellow soldier and his girlfriend. Three other

PROVIDENCE, [RI]—The East Providence police department is rewarding $5,000 to anyone with any new information about an arson and hate crime to a local family four years ago. Police say that everyone in the house escaped the house safely. Anyone with additional information is advised to contact police or the state fire marshal's office. View More>>

PHOENIX, [AZ]—It was a sunny Saturday morning in late August, and the group standing at the far end of the Sierra Vista park looked more than a little gathering of military members. They were members of the Arizona State Militia and were holding a new member meeting. Despite its name, the organization is not part of the state government. It is made up of volunteers with similar viewpoints. The ASM has gone on a statewide recruiting drive in the past two months, holding meetings in Sierra Vista, as well as Chandler and Kingman. The group's goals are found on its website and Facebook page, which the leaders use as a recruiting tool. But experts who track militia activity say this is a con

HOUSTON, [TX]—Those who run the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas know plenty of rough times that the public will never hear about, but police are trying to figure out if the recent deaths of four men who were considered members or associates of the gang are related. The cluster of deaths have raised eyebrows of authorities who are considering everything from murder by rivals to an overdose to maybe a suicide being among the possibilities. The door has not been closed on anything, said one investigator, although there has been nothing so far to definitively prove if the men were targeted or not. Their death reports are not yet public. The insular nature of the gang, where membership is for life

EBENSBURG, [PA]—An animal rights activist group is claiming responsibility for opening the doors of what it claims to be hundreds of cages at a Cambria Township farm, releasing more than 600 mink. The Animal Liberation Front is claiming responsibility for the illegal activity on the George Rykola mink farm in the 500 block of Colver Road, Ebensburg. The actions area violation of the federal Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act and the FBI has been contacted to help in the investigation. The group's actions occurred late Tuesday night and was made public by the "Bite Back" magazine, an animal rights publications based in West Palm Beach, Fla. Along with setting an estimated 500 to 600 mink loo

WARREN COUNTY, [MS]—A Vicksburg man is facing multiple charges after a high-speed chase and manhunt that spanned two counties and 18 hours Tuesday and Wednesday. Hinds County authorities say they have evidence to believe the suspect, William Charles Carroll, 38, is a high-ranking member of the Aryan Brotherhood, which is a violent white supremacist gang, according to the FBI. Law enforcement cornered Carroll just off Interstate 20 between Bovina and Flowers Wednesday morning after an all-night search. Authorities say he was armed with a semi-automatic weapon with a 30-round clip. He's been charged with careless driving, felony fleeing, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, poss
