SACRAMENTO, [CA]—Authorities in Northern California are saying the fatal shooting of a Jordanian man in a Home Depot parking lot was a racially motivated killing. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman said Wednesday that 44-year-old Jeffrey Caylor is awaiting transfer in Butte County, where is being held on charges related to crimes he is accused of committing before and after the killing of 46-year-old Hassan Alawsi, a Jordanian refugee. EUNICE, [LA]—Someone is passing out hateful flyers in the Acadiana area, telling Eunice residents the KKK is “awake.” This flier was passed out in one predominantly black neighborhood over the weekend. Authorities say it's not illegal to pass them out since no one was threatened. The flyer has the name "Loyal White Knights," and phone numbers on the bottom. It appears that whoever is responsible for making the flyers and passing them around is looking to recruit members. According to the website listed on the flyer, they are "the largest and most active Klan in America." State police and the FBI have the fliers. View More>>

POUGHKEEPSIE, [NY]—“You might as well kill me now,” shouted Carl L. Clark Jr., moments after he was carried into the Dutchess County courtroom. Five courtroom officers held the inmate in place at his sentencing Wednesday as he noisily declared that his status as a sovereign citizen meant he was exempt from state laws. “Objection! Objection!” he yelled, dozens of times, during the victim impact statement made by 17-year veteran City of Poughkeepsie police officer. Clark, 32, who said he now goes by the name Jabreaal Elbey, used a car he stole from his former girlfriend like a battering ram to plow into Rutulante’s police cruiser just before 9:30 a.m. Feb. 26, 2013 — after leadin

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, [OH]—The man killed during a gunfight with sheriff's deputies at his Middleburg Heights home Tuesday had filed a slew of lawsuits against government agencies, identifying himself as a sovereign citizen, a movement in which U.S. citizens declare themselves above state and federal law. Israel Rondon, 65, had been convicted of carrying a concealed weapon in Summit County and of assaulting a police officer in Cuyahoga County. But he appealed the first conviction, arguing that his Second and 14th Amendment rights had been violated, according to court records. Rondon died of a gunshot wound to the head Tuesday afternoon outside his Sheldon Road home, according to the Cuyahoga

SAVANNAH, [GA]—A U.S. Army soldier accused of using his wife's $500,000 life insurance benefits to fund an anti-government militia group was convicted on Thursday of killing her and their unborn child, a military spokesman said. A military judge found Private Isaac Aguigui, 22, guilty of asphyxiating his pregnant wife, Sergeant Deirdre Aguigui, in 2011 when she was stationed at Fort Stewart in southern Georgia. Army prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, meaning Aguigui faces an automatic life sentence. He is already serving a life-without-parole sentence after pleading guilty in a civilian court in July to the separate murders of a fellow soldier and his girlfriend. Three other soldi

RONAN, [MT]—A local fur farm was the target of vandalism from animal right’s advocates earlier this month, when masked suspects trespassed on the property and destroyed breeding records. Media sources received several emails from animal rights groups, Bite Back and the Animal Liberation Front, who forwarded an anonymous claim that the vandalism was done by animal rights activists. The claim states that early in the morning of March 7, activists entered the Fraser Fur Farm to get rid of the breeding records, a non-violent act “to ensure the loss of irreplaceable genetic lines, rendering the breeding stock of a given fur-producing business lost."
