HAVRE, [MT]--On Aug. 16, dozens of Havre residents woke to find a flier from The United Klans of America on their doorstep. Similar fliers from a range of Ku Klux Klan-affiliated groups have appeared on doorsteps across the United States over the past two years. All include a contact phone number, a website address and purport to announce the existence of a Klan supported “Neighborhood Watch” program. “Are there troubles in your neighborhood?” reads a similar flier distributed to homes in Fairview Township, Penn., last April. “Contact the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan today!” That flier included the image of a KKK member in a white robe and hood. One week af

BROWNSVILLE, [TX]--A Border Patrol agent pursuing a group of immigrants in a wooded area near the Texas-Mexico border on Friday fired several shots at an armed man who later identified himself as a militia member. Border Patrol agents had been chasing a group of immigrants east of Brownsville Friday afternoon when an agent saw a man holding a gun near the Rio Grande. The agent fired four shots, but did not hit the man. The man then dropped his gun and identified himself as a member of a militia. A Border Patrol spokesperson said no other details were immediately available. Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio, whose agency is involved in the investigation, said the incident occurred on priva

BEAUMONT, [TX]--"So it's pretty disgusting that our own citizens--Texans haven't stepped up to patrol their own border." That disgust has sparked action in Derek Poe. The owner of Golden Triangle Tactical in Beaumont is forming a volunteer group that Poe says will go to the border to act as a "force multiplier." Poe says the militia will serve as a deterrent as they work on private property. Those who join the group will get a plate carrier, night vision goggles and an AR-15. But the group isn't open to everyone. Poe says there are membership requirements. Some aren't sure it's a good idea. Many followers expressed concern for the groups' safety. A spokesperson with the Texas Department of P

MURFREESBORO, [TN]--Authorities in Murfreesboro are investigating after someone broke into a local tow yard and vandalized eight vehicles. The cars were set on fire and then spray-painted with the letters “KKK.” The numbers “666” were also spray-painted on the pavement. The vandalism happened during the early morning hours Monday at Robinson's Towing on West Main Street. The owner said the vandals left a letter saying they would be back to burn down the building. The letter has since been sent to state investigators to dust for fingerprints. The Murfreesboro Fire Department is investigating. The assistant fire chief said whoever vandalized the cars left behind lots of evidence. Anyo

CONCORD, [NH]--New Hampshire compound of a tax-evading couple convicted of amassing an arsenal of weapons and holding federal law enforcement officials at bay for months is being sold at auction — even as prospective buyers have been kept off the land because it could still be booby-trapped. The auction of Ed and Elaine Brown's fortress-like home on 100 acres in Plainfield is scheduled for Friday afternoon at U.S. District Court in Concord. The minimum required bid is $250,000. Elaine Brown's dental office in Lebanon also is being auctioned. Prospective bidders have not been allowed to tour the property, and last year, the U.S. Marshals Service cited the possibility of land mines and other

CARIBOU, [ME]--The city of Caribou, Maine, is home to less than 8,000 people, dozens of potato farms and, to the consternation of a small but vocal group of citizens, an airport, a recreation center and groomed snowmobile trails. Citing those amenities as evidence of excessive spending by city government, a group of Caribou residents have started a movement to secede from the northern Maine city, which is closer to Quebec City than Portland, the state's largest municipality. They aim to persuade voters to undo a municipal merger that took place in the 19th century, when Caribou absorbed the town of Lyndon. If secession succeeds, Lyndon would be home to about 2,400 residents, trout-filled riv

QUEENS, [NY]--A Sikh man mowed down by a road-rage driver in Queens says he was called a terrorist moments before the driver floored it. “You mother f–king Bin Laden, go back to your country!” the driver allegedly screamed at victim Sandeep Singh right before the motorist plowed his pick-up truck into Singh, dragging him 30 feet and then fleeing. Singh, who is originally from India, was getting out of his car in Richmond Hill around 12 a.m. July 30 when the driver of a silver GMC 1500 Series Sierra pick-up was blocked by his vehicle’s door, police sources said. The two men argued before the driver hit the gas slightly and bumped Singh with his car on 99th Street near 101st Avenue, co

HOUSTON, [TX]--The remaining two defendants of 36 accused in the Southern District of Texas of racketeering activities as part of their roles with the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT) have pleaded guilty, capping a six-year sweeping effort that has led to 73 convictions across five federal districts and the decimation of the gang’s leadership and violent members and associates.   Those convicted were charged with involvement in a criminal organization that engaged in murders, kidnappings, brutal beatings, fire bombings and drug trafficking. Rusty Eugene Duke of Dallas, Texas, pleaded guilty today before a U.S. District Judge in the Southern District of Texas to one count of conspiracy t

LAS VEGAS, [NV]--One of rancher Cliven Bundy’s sons was released from jail Thursday and ordered to undergo an intensive outpatient drug program. Bundy’s 34-year-old son, also named Cliven Lance Bundy, was arrested earlier this month for criminal contempt and parole violations, according to Las Vegas police. An arrest warrant was issued July 8 after the younger Bundy didn’t appear before a District Judge, who supervises a drug diversion program. On that day, Bundy was undergoing hip surgery, his father told reporters after Thursday’s hearing. The judge set another hearing in the case for August 26. Meanwhile, the younger Bundy will have to report to an intensive drug treatment facil

UNITED STATES, [US]--If you ask the average American to paint a picture of what a terrorist looks like, the portrait you’d get as a result would be a familiar one. The person would be male, likely Arab, almost certainly Muslim. Yet that is not the picture of an actual, typical terrorist. Though the threat of radical Islam is a real one, it’s not only a small part of the Muslim experience in America; it’s a small part of the terrorist world as well. Shortly after the election of President Obama in 2008, Daryl Johnson, an analyst with the Department of Homeland Security wrote an analysis called “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radical
