GREENWOOD, [IN]--Police have arrested an Indianapolis man who they believe was looking to carry out an act of domestic terrorism. Christopher Byrne, 31, was stopped on US 31 after he was seen driving suspiciously in the parking lot of the Greenwood Park Mall August 15. Police were on patrol in the area due to a number of car break-ins in the lot and stopped Byrne for driving without a seat belt. When the Greenwood Police officer asked Byrne for identification during the traffic stop, he claimed to be a "sovereign national" and refused to provide ID. BOSTON, [MA]--A Massachusetts man is facing federal charges for allegedly stockpiling weapons, threatening to kill President Barack Obama and numerous police officers and to attack a mosque. Joseph Garguilo, 48, is charged with being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition. He was scheduled to appear in federal court in Boston at 2:30 p.m. on Monday; it wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney. According to the criminal complaint, the FBI received information on July 27 that Garguilo had recently acquired parts to make an AR-15 rifle and was stockpiling other weapons, including Tasers, mace guns, hunting knives and chemicals to make thermite grenades. Around the same time, h

COVINGTON, [VA]--A Covington man was arrested Sunday afternoon after a nearly four-hour police standoff at Lake Moomaw. According to Alleghany County Sheriff Kevin Hall, police received calls about a man in body armor with an AR-15 rifle near the dam on the lake around 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Roads in the vicinity of Lake Moomaw, which is on the border of Bath and Alleghany counties, were shut down and Virginia State Police and Bath County Sheriff's Office assisted Alleghany County in securing the area. The man, Ricky Chittum, was arrested, without incident, around 3 p.m., Hall said. Hall said Chittum was camping around the Lake Moomaw area with his wife and friends until Sunday, w

SELAH, [WA]--A Central Washington man whose home was searched the day of May Day protests in Seattle was arrested Thursday by the FBI on a charge of receiving components of an incendiary-explosive device. Melvin Thomas Neifert, 41, of Selah, Yakima County, was taken into custody about 9 a.m. by the FBI Seattle Division’s Inland Northwest Joint Terrorism Task Force. PORTLAND, [OR]--A convicted felon with a face covered in Aryan pride tattoos and an open warrant for heroin possession has been identified by police as the man behind Monday night’s Subway shootout in northern Oregon, according to local reports. Jeffrey Giddings is in custody after allegedly taking a woman hostage and engaging in a standoff with police Monday night in the small town of Gladstone. The standoff started when a cop tried pulling over the 45-year-old Klamath Falls man — who was on a bicycle — for a municipal code violation. TOLEDO, [OH]--Some local kids find a hit list targeting three local police departments. The FBI and Ottawa County Sheriff's are investigating who wrote the list threatening to harm officers. The list was found at Graytown Park in Benton Township. The Ottawa Count Sheriff's Office has a few people of interest in this case. In the meantime local law enforcement are on high alert. Authorities are taking extra precautions after two kids found a note at Graytown park. In it someone made threats to shoot officers in Clay, Genoa and Lake Township. CLEARBROOK, [MN]--A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy suffered injuries from breaking glass when a man fired at a helicopter the deputy was riding in Monday morning. Charges are pending against Carstie Lee Clausen of Clearbrook, who reportedly shot twice at the helicopter with a high-powered rifle. The deputy was not identified in a news release from the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, but the release did note the officer was treated and released from Essentia Hospital in nearby Fosston, Minn. The shots were fired at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter about 10 a.m. while it flew over an area in rural Clearwater County where suspected drug activity was thought to be occur

WATAUGA, [TX]--Security was tightened after a man threatened in a voicemail message to cut off the heads of everyone at the Masjid Al-Sahaabah mosque, a spokesman said Sunday. Extra security has been added to the mosque in the 6000 block of Chapman Road, mosque officials said, but they declined to elaborate. Mosque officials reported the threat to police and FBI agents Saturday. The message, almost two minutes long, begins with a man saying he lives in Watauga and is a U.S. Army veteran. NEW MILFORD, [CT]--Officials say that Ryan Camaioni changed his tune with police after they charged him with felony inciting an injury to people or property for posting a photo and message on Facebook about killing cops in early July. He appeared in state Superior Court in Bantam last Monday after police say he wrote a July 8 Facebook post; an all-caps call to kill officers, police said.
