HIGHLAND RANCH, [CO]--Just weeks before a barricaded man shot and killed a sheriff's deputy in a Colorado apartment, he apparently was writing alarming messages in email and on social media that included threats to police officers, officials have said. Matthew Riehl, a 37-year-old former Army reservist, shot four sheriff's deputies who responded to a complaint at his apartment in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch on Sunday morning, killing one, police say. Riehl was killed during a subsequent shootout with a police tactical team -- a clash that also left a SWAT officer injured, authorities say. The slain deputy was Zackari Parrish, a 29-year-old father of two. Two civilians outside the ap

The lawsuit further levels accusations against the United Effort Plan Trust, Warren Jeffs' brothers Lyle and Seth Jeffs, former FLDS President and convicted bigamist Wendell Nielsen, and the church. As part of FLDS beliefs, men have historically sexually abused and assaulted underage girls, court documents say. But under Warren Jeffs' leadership, the lawsuit's plaintiff —

MINNEAPOLIS, [MN]--Minneapolis police have removed a memorial that a white nationalist group created to honor an Australian woman killed by a Somali officer last summer. Police spokesman John Elder told Minnesota Public Radio News an officer cleared the memorial when the department learned it was displayed outside its headquarters. The northern California hate group called Identify Evropa said on its Twitter account it put up the memorial Friday. The group helped organize participants in the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in August. The memorial to Justine Ruszczyk Damond consisted of a framed portrait, candles, roses and signs reading "United We Stand." The Sta

Early Friday morning, the couple, Scott and Buckley Kuhn-Fricker, were shot in their home by the teenager, police said, who then shot himself. Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Reem Awad said the suspect, whose name is being withheld by police because he is a minor, is hospitalized in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. BETHLEHEM, [PA]--A welfare check for a bleeding woman on a Bethlehem Township lawn Friday quickly unfolded into an eight-hour standoff with a gunman firing what's believed to be a semi-automatic rifle at police and terrifying neighbors. The standoff ended when Justin Erik Kephart was found dead from what was believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Joseph Sokolofski. He's believed to have killed his mother, although the coroner had not arrived to confirm his death or hers when Sokoloski briefed the news media just after 10 p.m. Friday. Several local departments were called to back up local police. UNITED STATES, [US]--The Pennsylvania chapter of “sovereign citizens” has handed down their own “indictments” and are calling for the possible execution of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and others. Fake charges were drawn up from the “Sovereign Common Law Court: THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE SUPREME COURTS OF PENNSYLVANIA.” They claim they have the authority to hold “court” proceedings with self-proclaimed judge Steven Duane Curry. West Virginia resident Thomas Deegan is also involved. He once spent time in jail for a failed attempt to overthrow the state government. The documents claiming “indictment” have been

LAS VEGAS, [NV]--Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday ordered an investigation into the high-profile prosecution of anti-government ranchers in Nevada, after a judge declared a mistrial, saying that prosecutors had improperly withheld evidence from the defense. The case against Cliven D. Bundy, his sons Ammon E. Bundy and Ryan C. Bundy, and a supporter, Ryan W. Payne, stemmed from an armed standoff in 2014 between federal agents on one side, and the Bundys and people who flocked to their cause on the other. On Wednesday, in Federal District Court in Las Vegas, Judge Gloria M. Navarro charged that prosecutors had failed to disclose material they were required to turn over to the defense

WASHINGTON, [DC]--A White House senior adviser at the Department of Homeland Security promoted several far-right conspiracy theories in past radio appearances. Frank Wuco, a former naval intelligence officer and conservative talk radio host, has served as the White House adviser to DHS since January and leads a team tasked with helping to enforce President Donald Trump's executive orders. A KFile review of more than 40 hours of Wuco's radio appearances shows he regularly promoted unfounded conspiracy theories that have been spread by members of the far right over the years. Among the conspiracy theories Wuco pushed were claims that former President Barack Obama's memoir was ghost written by

AZTEC, [NM]--In real life, William Edward Atchison—people called him Bill—lived in a little yellow house with his parents, about a mile away from the Giant gas station where he worked and from Aztec High School, where he shot and killed two students and then himself last Thursday. At the murder scene, police found a thumb drive with a note that read, “If things go according to plan, today would be when I die. I go somewhere and gear up, then hold a class hostage and go apeshit, then blow my brains out.” He wrote “work sucks, school sucks, life sucks. I just want out of this shit.” And yet online, the 21-year-old New Mexico resident lived a prolific life as a white supremacist,
