WASHINGTON, [DC]--The document didn’t mince words. It claimed three-quarters of “international terrorism” convicts were immigrants, an assertion meant to bolster Donald Trump’s cherished Muslim-focused ban on entering the country. And the report put the claim in the mouths of an agency assembled to keep Americans safe after 9/11: the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Working off the 549 federal international-terrorism convictions tallied by the Justice Department, the document stated: “An analysis conducted by DHS determined that approximately 73 percent (402 of these 549 individuals) were foreign-born.” But the Department of Homeland Security did not perform that analysis.

UNITED STATES, [US]--A new report states that right-wing extremists were responsible for the majority of extremist murders in the U.S. in 2017. Jewish group the Anti-Defamation League compiled the report, noting how the murders committed by white supremacists included some linked to the "alt-right" -- shorthand for the "alternative right" -- which it states “expanded its operations in 2017 from the internet into the physical world.” The report includes white supremacists and individuals who identify with the alt-right movement as part of its "right-wing" classification. “Energized by the 2016 election and the media attention given to the movement, alt-right adherents … increasingly i

SAN ANTONIO, [TX]--A group of University of Texas at San Antonio students recently rounded up and torched promotional materials put out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The group in question, Revolutionary Horizon (RH), describes itself as a “revolutionary group that primarily consists of students at the University of Texas at San Antonio,” adding that it is “anti-racist” and “anti-fascist.” On January 18, the group posted a video of an individual, clad in black clothes and sporting a ski mask, placing approximately a dozen ICE pamphlets into a grill at an unknown location. The individual then lights the pamphlets on fire, dousing them in lighter fluid. The g

UNITED STATES, [US]--The editor of the neo-Nazi website Daily Stormer acknowledged on a white supremacist radio show that the true purpose of the conspiracy site is to radicalize children as young as 11 into holding extremist beliefs. "My site is mainly designed to target children” for radicalization, the editor, Andrew Anglin, said Saturday on Radical Agenda, a radio show hosted by Christopher Cantwell, one of the marchers during a deadly Charlottesville, Virginia rally in August. “[Age] 11 through teenage years.… Young adults, pubescents." Anglin’s remark was part of a discussion about how memes are used by neo-Nazis to “indoctrinate” children into sharing their beliefs. Cantwe

FREDERICKSBURG, [VA]--Paper flyers calling Martin Luther King Jr. a communist were left in plastic baggies filled with birdseed in Braehead Woods and Confederate Ridge driveways overnight. The flyers advertised the Ku Klux Klan and contained a Web address, a North Carolina phone number and a North Carolina PO Box address. Fredericksburg resident Rhonda O’Kelley said she was so upset by the flyers that she and her daughter drove around and collected as many as they could find to throw away. Other residents also collected the flyers from their neighbor’s driveways in the morning hours. Flyers with the same Web address on them were distributed at Halloween in Leesburg, and there have been s

LEESBURG, [VA]--It was a spirited gathering, as hundreds marched along East Market Street in Leesburg Monday, to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “This is a day of celebration and unity and peace,” declared Lisa-Marie Aird, of Sterling. “We all came out in droves. All nationalities, all cultures, just to celebrate the day.” Some marchers carried signs that read “No KKK, no racist USA” and “Unity, not hate.” Those placards, sobering reminders of the continuing police investigation into what appear to be KKK fliers left outside a home in the 700 Block of Aurora Court, NE, Friday night. The fliers, reportedly from the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, were wrapped in pla

PANAMA CITY, [FL]--A man with 110 Xanax bars, numerous oxycodone and hydrocodone pulls, two bags of powder cocaine and a loaded handgun in his car explained to a Walton County deputy that he didn't need a driver's license or tag because he was a "sovereign" citizen, deputies wrote in a news release. The incident happened Friday night at the intersection of West Violet Lane and Girl Scout Road. The argument made by 23-year-old Dekian Clinch, that he had rejected federal law and taxation as illegitimate did not dissuade the deputy from moving forward with an arrest. Deputies say Clinch began fighting with the deputy during the arrest. A good Samaritan spotted the fight and called 911. View Mor

MARYVILLE, [TN]--The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a man who allegedly shot a police officer was captured Saturday in Blount County. DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, [FL]--The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is calling one woman a good Samaritan for calling 911 after seeing a deputy struggle with an arrest Friday. The arrest began at 9:30 a.m. after a deputy saw Dekian Rashawn Clinch, 23, driving across the intersection of West Violet Lane and Girl Scout Road with no license plate, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. The deputy pulled Clinch over for the violation, but Clinch told him he did not need a license plate or a driver’s license to travel. Clinch made other statements indicating he was in line with being a sovereign citizen, the release said.  The deputy attempted to arrest Clinch, but he resisted. The
